Captain Walter Andrew Johnson died at sea Friday, January 9, 2015 at the age of 50.  Born in Atlanta, Georgia; graduated Lakeside High School in 1982; graduated United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, New York, 1986.  Andrew proudly served as a Mobile Bar Pilot since 2001.  He honorably served as a United States Merchant Marine during Desert Shield/Desert Storm; worked as a Captain for several maritime agencies; and held a United States Merchant Marine Officer Unlimited Master License.   Andrew is survived by his wife Theresa (Terry); daughters Rachel (7) and Valerie (19); son Christopher (19); parents Albert Sidney and Claire Johnson of Vidalia, Georgia; brother Sid Johnson (Leslie); sister Ginny Johnson; niece Maggie Johnson and nephew Ryan Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia.   Andrew’s wife and children were the most important people in his life.  His every thought was to their happiness and welfare and he loved and served them faithfully as he did his Lord through Stephen Ministries.  Andrew enjoyed sharing his love of all things outdoors.  He had spunk and fire like no other, was a true patriot, a great friend, and lived life to the fullest.   Andrew will be deeply missed by his family, friends, maritime co-workers, fellow Kings Point graduates, and all who knew him.   Viewing at Wolfe Bayview Funeral Home, 19698 Greeno Road (HWY 98) Fairhope, Alabama on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 1:00 pm, with services immediately following.  Donations can be made in Andrew’s name to Equine Educational Consultants, Inc.
