Burrul Cooper Yokel, Daphne resident, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014. A sweet and southern lady, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Harold Yokel. Burrul is survived by her daughter, Lee Yokel of Daphne, sons Walter (Ames) Yokel of Fairhope and Maury (Catherine) Yokel of Fish River; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Burrul was in the last class of the Convent and Academy of Visitation; graduated Murphy High School; and attended H. Sophie Newcomb Memorial College on a physics scholarship. She was an alumnus of Kappa Alpha Theta. She was a graduate of both the University of Alabama and University of South Alabama and taught physics, math, and computer science. Mrs. Yokel was a life-long learner enjoying computers, books, and nature. A graveside service will be held Friday, December 5, 2014 at 10am in the Montrose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friends of the Daphne Public Library or The University of Alabama at Birmingham Alzheimer’s Disease Center.
