Gus Likos, 89, of Daphne, passed away on Wednesday, November 5. He was born to the late George and Domina Likos on August 12, 1925, in Gadsden. He married Katy Croft in 1953, and they lived in Gadsden before relocating to Daphne in 1992. Gus was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He earned the bachelor’s degree in biology at Jacksonville State University. He began his career at Holy Name of Jesus Hospital in Gadsden in 1953 as a medical technologist and retired as chief of the Laboratory in 1991. He was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter in Gadsden and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Daphne. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Katy, and three children: Tina (John) Wilson of Orange Beach; Karen (Bruce) Thomason of Daphne; and Marty (Rhonda) Likos of Guntersville. He also is survived by sisters Bessie Cherolis of Miami and Mary Ella (Nick) Billiris of Clearwater, FL; brother George (Betty) Likos of Gadsden, 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Saturday, November 8, at 10 am followed by the service at 11 am at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Daphne. Burial will be at Jubilee Memorial Gardens.
