GULF SHORES, ALDawson Lamar “D. L.” Nelson, age 85, a native and lifelong resident of Oyster Bay, passed away Wednesday, November 05, 2014.D. L. was a member of Oyster Bay Baptist Church, served in the U. S. Navy and retired from the city of Gulf Shores.Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, Orah Dawson and Evelyn Mund Nelson; sisters, Goldie Powers, Evelyn Tilley; and grandson, Christopher Love.He is survived by his wife, Catherine Nelson; son, Danny (Dale) Nelson; daughter, Glenda (Charles) Bobo; grandchildren, Noah (Amber) Nelson, Danyel (Nate) Cake, Catherine Bobo; great grandchildren, River and Emmalyn Nelson, Cody and Riley Grace Cake; sister, Ola Jean Buchanan; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.Funeral services will be held at Oyster Bay Baptist Church, Saturday, November 8, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the service time.Interment will follow in Miller Memorial Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made toOyster Bay Baptist Church Building Fund, 4280 Plash Road, Gulf Shores, AL 36542, http://oysterbaybaptist.org/ .ARRANGEMENTS BYWOLFE-BAYVIEWFUNERAL HOME2551 S.
