PLASH ISLANDFloyd Douglas “Buck” Plash, age 86, a lifelong resident of Plash Island on the Alabama Coast, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on October 15, 2014.Buck graduated from Foley High School in 1946; he served proudly with “L” Company of the 45th Infantry Division (Thunderbirds) during the Korean War; he was a lifelong member of Oyster Bay Baptist Church, where he served on the House and Grounds committee for over fifty years and was an honorary deacon; and he owned and operated the shrimping trawlers Lucky and Lucky Boy.He was preceded in death by his parents John and Laura “Kroutter” Plash; four brothers, John, Charles, James, and Melvin; and two sisters, Evelyn and Mary.Buck Plash is survived by his wife, Carolyn Miller Plash of Gulf Shores, AL; three children, son, John “Douglas” Plash of Foley, AL (Jaye); son, Charles “Floyd” Plash of Ocean Springs, MS (Cherry); and daughter Carolyn Ann Plash Wood of Gulf Shores, AL (Robbie); eight grandchildren, Kristy Plash Stewart of Memphis, TN (Kirk); Jennifer Plash Boyette of Meridian, MS (Adam); Robert Plash of Omaha, NE; Michael Plash of Ocean Springs, MS (Elena); Melissa Plash Knight of Fairhope, AL (Chris); Kevin Plash of Houston, TX; Nathan Wood of Auburn, AL; and Zach Wood of Gulf Shores, AL; four great grandchildren, Addison Boyette of Meridian, MS; Hannah Boyette of Meridian, MS; Shelby Stewart of Memphis, TN; and Alexandria Stewart of Memphis, TN; and one sister, Norma Plash Wenzel of Foley, AL.Funeral services will be held from Oyster Bay Baptist Church, Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 2:00pm.
