Georgia Fillingham Huckabay

FAIRHOPE, AL Georgia Fillingham Huckabay, age 72, a resident of Fairhope, AL, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014. Georgia was a life-long member of St James Episcopal Church of Fairhope, AL. She was a talented musician and music was her ministry. She found joy singing in the choir at church and playing her flute. Georgia is 1959 graduate of Fairhope High School. She earned two degrees in music from the University of Southern Mississippi. Georgia worked in the Music Department at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA from 1972-1992. She retired to her hometown of Fairhope and was as an active charter member of the Baldwin Pop’s Band. She was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years Houston Huckabay. Georgia loved spending time with her grandchildren, crocheting, and socializing with her dear childhood friends Tina Bertagnolli and Marion Frizzel.  Mrs. Huckabay was preceded in death by her parents, George and Levitia Fillingham; and husband, Houston K. Huckabay. She is survived by her children, Annie Freeman of Austin, TX, George H. Huckabay of Fairhope, AL; grandchildren, Hootie, Ashton and Mary-Carmen Freeman and Will Huckabay; three step children and five step grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held from Saint James Episcopal Church, Fairhope, AL, Friday, September 19, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. James Music Program 860 N Section St, Fairhope, AL 36532 or the Baldwin Pop's Band P.O.
