James A. “Jim” Hendrix, age 91, a resident of Summerdale, AL, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Maxine Moore Hendrix and son, Jeffrey Hendrix, both of Summerdale, AL. As a WWII veteran that served in the European theatre with the Army Air Force, Hendrix reentered the University of Alabama under the G.I. Bill where he graduated from Law School. While at the University he met and married, Maxine Moore, and then moved to Baldwin County where he residedfor 62 years. Hendrix practiced law for over 50 years, 22 years as District Attorney, and retired as an attorney in 2009. He was very active in the community being associated with the Methodist churches in Robertsdale, Bay Minette and Marlow where he enjoyed singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school classes. He was a member of the his local VFW and was associated with the Kiwanis Club, the March of Dimes, the Baldwin County Fair, and very involved as a supporter of the University of Alabama and its sports programs, especially the Crimson Tide. He worked tirelessly with Baldwin County’s schools through various education and sports programs. A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Boys & Girls Ranches of Alabama.
