Gerald “Jerry” Harder, a resident of Mobile, AL formerly of Pontiac, IL. passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2014. Jerry was born February 17, 1945 in Pontiac, IL, the son of Roy and Ellen Harder. Jerry was a 25 year veteran of the United States Navy, and spent 20 years as a teacher before retirement. In retirement, he was a member of the American Legions Post 76. He enjoyed supporting local charities through his love for the riders association among other groups. He is survived by his seven children, Michael Harder of Fayetteville, GA., Jodi Keating of Fairhope, AL., Michelle Brown of Citronelle, AL., Joel Wilder of Temple, TX., Debra Mullins of Daphne, AL., Holly Maynard of Fairhope, AL., Jeri Stringfellow of Mobile, AL. and 15 grandchildren plus three great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife and love, Betty Jo, three brothers, one sister, and parents. The family would like to express their gratitude to family and friends for their loving prayers and support. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
