Lydia Jo Stotz Corlew passed away at her home in Fairhope, Alabama on May 10th, 2014. She was born May 3rd, 1942 in Cambridge, MA. Lydia grew up in Rochester, New York. She attended college at Western College for Women in Miami, Ohio receiving her degree in elementary education. Lydia taught 5th and 6th grades in the Pittsford Central School District starting at Mendan Center School for the ’65-’66 and ’66-’67 school years. Then at Allen Creek School from 1967 through June 1993 for a total of twenty eight years. Lydia retired in June 1993. Since her retirement and move to Fairhope, AL in 1993 she has worked to improve the life of abandoned animals especially cats but Lydia loved all animals. Lydia had many wonderful friends and always had a smile and a helping hand for anyone who needed it. Her bright smile and winning personality well be greatly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents. Dr. and Mrs. Elmer H. Stotz. Lydia is survived by her husband, James C. Corlew; his children Minda C. (Michael) Lambert of Penn Yan, NY, Laurie A. (Dave) Gregware of Orange Park, FL, Donald P. (Donna) Henderson of PennYan, NY, Carol L. (Lynn) Martin of Herkimer, NY; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; three sisters Cynthia (Robert) Gardner of The Woodlands, TX, Gretchen Gray of Broken Arrow, OK, Diana (Robert) Olson of Arvada, CO; one brother Jonathan H. Stotz of Jasper, GA; brother-in-law William T. (Dora F.) Robinson of Fairhope, AL; sister-in-law JoAnn Corlew of Greenville, KY; a host of nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at 10:00 am, from St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Fairhope, AL. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:00 am until the service time.
