James "Walter" Childress

BARNWELL  James Walter Childress, age 74, a lifelong resident of Barnwell, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014.  Walter was preceded in death by his parents, John Rix and Jessie Kate Childress; brother, John Childress; and sister, Peggy Nelson Childress.  He is survived by his wife, Betty Joyce Childress of Barnwell; Daughters, Marilyn A. Hicks of Barnwell, Saralyn R. Barid of Foley; brothers, Tommy, Ricky, Mike and Benny Childress; sisters, Grace Wayand, Betty Beadnell, Carolyn Parnell and Susie Green; eight grandchildren, Tosha, Halley, Devon, Jordan and Hayden Hicks, Wesley and Sarah Reed and Jamie Barid; six great grandchildren, Ronnie, Taylor, Annabelle, Ethan, Chole and Laila; numerous nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.  The family will receive friends at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, Sunday, April 27, 2014, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm.  Funeral services will be held Monday, April 28, 2014, at 2:00pm, from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope.  Interment will follow in Brook-Cedron Cemetery,
