Dorothy Chance

FAIRHOPE, AL Dorothy Juanita Large Chance, age 86, a native of Knoxville, TN and a resident of Fairhope, AL, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister with a servant's heart.  At her husband's side as a career Navy wife, she served as President of the Navy Wives Club and did short term missions in the Ryukyu Islands.  She also served as Choir Director for the Christian Missionary Alliance Church of Sanford, FL. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Alfred B. Chance, Sr., of Fairhope, AL; two daughters, Cathey C. Kirkland (Kerry) of Birmingham, AL and Linda C. Ray (Darrell) of Waxahachie, TX; one son, Dr. Alfred B. Chance, Jr., (Peggy) of Montrose, AL; four sisters, Joyce Carnes, Wanda Large, Sybil Cagley, Marjorie Long, all of Knoxville, TN, and Gwen Wallace of Winterpark, FL; one brother, Harold Large of Knoxville, TN; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and other loving relatives. A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, March 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the service time.
