FAIRHOPE, AL. Carl Lawrence Adams was born May 10, 1936 in Birmingham, Alabama to Henry and Mildred Adams. Carl departed this life on March 22, 2014 in Fairhope, AL. Carl graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University) in 1959 with a B.S. in aerospace engineering. He spent his professional career working on the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. White working for IBM, he helped develop the Saturn rockets which ultimately sent mankind to the moon in the 1960’s and 1970’s. He then worked on top-secret ballistic trajectory projects for the Army Missile Defense Command. Carl was also proud to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps Reserves, the United States Army Reserves, and as an auxiliary deputy sheriff for Madison County, AL. He maintained his support for the military as a lifelong member of Marine Corps League. Carl also relaxed by sailing on Mobile Bay and Lake Guntersville. Carl is survived by his wife, Maureen Adams of Fairhope, AL; his mother, Mildred Adams of Douglasville, GA; his children, Denise Adams (Ken) of Douglasville, GA, Stuart Adams (Brenda) of Fairhope, AL, Charles Beverly (Nancy)  of Gulf Breeze, FL, David Adams (Fairul) of San Jose, CA, Patrick Beverly of Huntsville, AL, Beth Adams Fogle (Frank) of Huntsville, AL, Frederick Lieder (Rachel) of San Diego, CA and Michele Lieder Tangle (Chris) of Saraland, AL; Carl is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, Julia, Christopher, Alicia, Ian, Adam, Ethan, Eddie, Graem, Robert, Hunter, Kelsey, Madison, and Merideth; and three great-grandchildren, Noah, Vada and Bella.  A reception honoring Carl’s life will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 10:00am until 12:00 pm at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carl’s name to the American Cancer Society.
