George W. Hearn

MOBILE, AL George W. Hearn, age 79, a resident of Chiang Mia, Thailand passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 in Chiang Mia, Thailand.   He was born in Mobile and lived his childhood in Citronelle, Alabama. After graduating from Auburn University in 1958, he worked for the Mobile Area Council of the boy Scouts of America, beginning a lifelong career of working for non-profit organizations. He served as President of the United Way of the Bluegrass in Lexington, KY. From 1972 thru 1992 and served as the Campaign Director for the Metropolitan Atlanta United Way during prior years. Mr. Hearn was married to the former Margaret Dudley, a native of Prichard, Alabama for fifty years and was widowed by her passing on October 2, 2009. This union produced one child, Col. Stephen W. Hearn, Retired, a resident of  Richmond, KY.  Mr. Hearn is also survived by four sisters, five grandchildren, two brothers, nieces, nephews, and many other relative and friends.  A memorial service will be held at a later date  In lieu of flowers the family requests any memorial contributions be provided to the McKean Rehabilitation Center operated by the National Protestant Church of Thailand, McKean Rehabilitation Center, P.
