ETHERIDGE SPANISH FORT, AL Jonathan Nicholas “Nick” Etheridge, Jr., age 88, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014 in Spanish Fort. He was a native of Wawbeek, AL, former resident of Atmore and a resident of Spanish Fort. Nick was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spanish Fort. He retired from L & N (CSX) Railroad after 44 years of service. Nick played football for Flomaton High School, Flomaton and Red Level town teams. Mr. Etheridge was an avid Alabama football fan. He enjoyed golf and participating in church brotherhood activities. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jonathan Nicholas Etheridge, Sr. and Fannie Maude Lesayth Etheridge; sisters, Ernestine Jernigan, Lois Etheridge, Eleanor Young, Mary Etheridge, Melva Dovith, Frances Johnson and a grandson, Andrew David Ross. Nick is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jacquelene Etheridge of Spanish Fort; a son, Jonathan Nicholas Etheridge, III of Diamondhead, MS; three daughters, Susan Etheridge Ross of Theodore, Kay Marie E. Arnold of Daphne, Mary Kim E. Harrison of Fairhope; a sister, Nell Ree Lambeth of Flomaton; grandchildren, Jason Nicholas Ross, Kelly Danielle Corbin, Brandon Colby Arnold, Melanie Parker, Jonathan Nicholas Etheridge, IV and David Keith Etheridge; five great grandchildren and nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Spanish Fort. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Jubilee Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital For Children, Shreveport, or the First Baptist Church of Spanish Fort.
