STRAULEY FAIRHOPE, AL Major Wesley E. Strauley, (USMC Retired), was born on October 11, 1919 near Chicago, IL in DuPage County and passed away December 21, 2013 at the age of 94. Major Strauley was a resident of Fairhope for almost 50 years. Throughout the years he was active in numerous civic and military organizations. He served in varying capacities for organizations such as The Eastern Shore Optimist Club, Dogwood Trail, Fairhope Yacht Club Commodore and Junior Yacht Club chaperone, The Downtown Business Owner’s Association, American Legion and VFW to name a few. Major Strauley served this country for 26 years in the United States Marine Corp. He was a Pearl Harbor Survivor, a veteran of WW II and the Korean War. He is survived by his daughter, Leilani Strauley Puckett of Fairhope; his son, Paul (Mindy) Strauley of Casselberry, FL; four grandchildren, Gregory (Megan) Puckett of Mobile, Megan Puckett of Fairhope, Karen Lowery of Crestview, FL, Michael Strauley of Louisville, KY; his great granddaughter, Ella Rose Beech of Fairhope; a sister, Susan (Charles) Sahs of Downers Grove, IL and many other loving family member and friends. A Graveside service will be held Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11:30 am at Memory Gardens of Fairhope. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 28, 2013 from 9:30 am-11:00 am at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Shepherd’s Place at Fairhope United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
