Virginia Boykin Wheeler

WHEELER Josephine, AL Virginia Boykin Wheeler, age 86, a resident of Josephine, AL, passed away peacefully December 1, 2013 with her family at her side. Virginia attended Barton Academy and graduated from Murphy High School. She graduated from Auburn University, was a member of Josephine Arts and Crafts Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, and an avid fisherwoman on Perdido Bay from childhood into her eighties. A Mobile native, Virginia taught history and home economics at Davidson High School for 10 years. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert Blackwell Wheeler of Josephine, AL; children Beth Wheeler Hall of Loxley, AL, William Robert Wheeler of Josephine, AL, Ann Wheeler Grigg of Cary, NC; brother Burwell Lee Boykin of King George, VA; sisters Dorothy Boykin Gary of Heath, MA, Nancy Boykin Miles of Mattaponi, VA, four grandchildren; Agnieszka, Monika, Max, Derrick Wheeler, many other family and friends. Celebration of Life service will be held from Josephine Baptist Church, Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 3:30pm with Dr. Ted Mashburn officiating the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Josephine Volunteer Fire Department, 6824 County Rd. 95 Josephine, AL 36530.
