Andrew Granbois Champion

FOLEY Andrew Granbois Champion, age 86, a resident of Foley, AL, passed away Sunday, November 10th, 2013.  Mr. Champion was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Foley.  In his Jr. & Sr. years at Donna High School in Donna, TX, Andy was chosen as all-star lineman for the Rio Grand Valley Conference.  After high school, he joined the Marines and served his country during WW II with the 4th Marine Division.  After the war he attended Steven F. Austin College on the G. I. Bill and earned his four year degree.  Mr. Champion spent many years in sales of agricultural products before his last decades of substitute teaching at Foley High School.  He was also an avid Auburn football fan.  Mr. Champion was preceded in death by his sons, Bruce Champion, John “Bobo” Lee and Lamar Suell.  He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Betty Champion; children, Eric Champion, Marty (Donna) Champion, Andrew Champion, James Champion, Priscilla (Robert) Kirkpatrick, Dorothy Jones, Becky (Rick) Sterling, Cindy (Alan) Blackwell, Lisa (Rusty) Pigott; sister, Rita Champion Davis; twenty-seven grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.  Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Homes, Foley, Wednesday, November 13th, 2013, at 2:00pm.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00pm until the service time.  Interment will follow in Pine Rest Memorial Park.
