ELBERTA Emil Joseph Salzmann, age 86, a native and lifelong resident of Elberta, passed away Friday, November 8th, 2013. Mr. Salzmann meet the love of his life Pauline while attending Coyne Electric School in Chicago, married her and made her a “Southern Girl”.  Joe was a rural mail carrier for 35 years.  He was a proud World War II Veteran in the Navy and was on the Honor Flight in May of 2011.  Being so involved in his community, he was a founding member of the Baldwin Heritage Museum and was a dedicated tour guide until his death.  He was a lifelong member of St. Bartholomew Catholic church, along with being a past member of the Board of Directors of the Elberta Farmers Co-Op and the Elberta Volunteer Fire Department. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Anna Salzmann, loving wife Pauline Salzmann and son, Arther “Gene” Salzmann. He is survived by his daughter Frances Bush; son Paul (Kathy) Salzmann; grandchildren, Gina (Scott) Lee, Genenvie (Brent) Hutfless, Eddie (Susan) Strauss, Zack Salzmann, Annilse Salzmann; four great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Dixie (Tommy) Dugan, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 11th, 2013, at 10:00am, from St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.  The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30am unitl the service time. Interment will follow in Elberta Public Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Baldwin Heritage Museum, P. O.
