Jane Carol Culpepper, 06/27/1934 – 10/28/2013, of Silverhill, AL. passed away peacefully at the home of her brother, M.I. Culpepper, in Chelsea, AL., losing her battle with cancer. Jane was born in Gulfport, MS. She lived there until 1939. When her family moved to Chickasaw, AL., she attended Chickasaw Elementary, Barton Academy, graduating from Murphy High School, Mobile, AL in 1951. While living in Chickasaw, Jane attended the First Baptist Church, and was baptized by the Reverend Swearingen, after accepting Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Jane was a cost accountant for International Paper Company until she became disabled with Myasthenia Gravis, a debilitating disease of the muscles. Before becoming disabled, Jane was an avid golfer, softball player, bowler, and bridge player. Jane also liked to fish. She had a house on Fish River in Baldwin County until Hurricane Danny flooded her out. She then built a house in Silverhill, AL. Even in Silverhill, Jane had a lot on Weeks Bay and with her boat, motor, trailer, and shrimp net, could be found on most Saturdays fishing with her friends. Jane never married. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milton I. Culpepper, Sr. She is survived by her brother, M.I. Culpepper, Jr. Even with the disability at an early age, Jane lived a full and adventurous life…always considering herself blessed with her family and friends. She will be missed! The family would like to give special thanks to Christina and Kerry of Comfort Care Hospice for their loving care and concern. The family also gives a very special thanks to Dr. Tim Cox, Senior Pastor and Reverend Alan Kuykendall, Associate Pastor, of Liberty Baptist Church of Chelsea for their visits and prayers during this difficult time. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope, AL. A celebration of Jane’s life will be Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home with the Reverend Wayne Honeycutt presiding. Interment will follow in Brook Cedron Cemetery on Hwy. 98.
