Joseph Clyde Bass

FAIRHOPE, AL. Joseph Clyde Bass, born 10/08/1919 in Slocomb, AL, died peacefully in his sleep at home on August 5, 2013 in Fairhope, AL. He retired at the rank of Captain after a 21 year career in the U.S. Marine Corps, having served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He also retired after a second career from the State of Alabama Highway Department, where he worked as a Project Auditor. He was a member of the Fairhope United Methodist Church, where he served for a time as the Chairman of the Church Council, and a member of the Church Finance Committee. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mozelle Moye Bass; his parents, Joseph Erving Bass and Olevia T. Bass; one brother and three sisters. He is survived by his children, Peggy Jo (J.C.) McAleer and Richard E. (Dianne) Bass; grandchildren, great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope on Friday, August 9, 2013 from 11:00 to 12:00. Graveside services will be held at Memory Gardens of Fairhope at 12:30 p.m. In leiu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to: Rhett Syndrome Foundation, Alzheimer Foundation or any charity of your choice.
