DAPHNE James L. Carnley, age 80, a longtime resident of Daphne, passed into the presence of Jesus Christ on Sunday, May 26, 2013. He was born November 3, 1932 in Ino, AL and later his family moved to Opp, where he finished his high school years. A veteran of the Korean War, he later joined the Coast Guard where he served for 28 years. Following retirement from the Coast Guard, he pursued and completed a Batchelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of South Alabama. Jim, as he was known by his friends, enjoyed golfing, gardening and service to Christ through his local church. He was especially devoted to his wife of 51 years, whom he cared for with great sacrificial efforts during the final years of her life. He is preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Bertie Mae and his loving wife, Betty L. Carnley. James is survived by his Sons, Darrell (Deanna) Carnley of Layton, UT, Gary (Dana) Carnley of Daphne; 1 brother, Lewis Virgil Carnley of Opp; 2 sisters, Katie Wilkes of Opp and Ann Grimes of Winter Garden, FL; 6 grandchildren: Blake, Brianna, Micha, Kenna, Cori, Mari and many other loving relatives and friends. Funeral Services we be Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Spanish Trail Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Belforest Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spanish Trail Baptist Church, 10999 US Hwy 90, Daphne, AL 36526.
