FAIRHOPE John Franklin Shriner, M.D., age 90, a native of Foley, AL and a resident of Fairhope, AL, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013. He received his M.D. from Tulane University. Dr. Shriner was a pediatrician in private practice in Mobile for many years and later worked with the Child Advocacy Center of Mobile. He was a long time member of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen Shriner of Fairhope, one son, John F. (Joann) Shriner Jr. of Cookeville, TN; one daughter, Julie Howard of Navarre, FL; seven grandchildren, Peter (Maggie Bogle) Shriner, Ian (Kimberly) Shriner, Sydney Howard, Mason Howard, Ansley Howard, Shelby Howard, Stephanie Taylor; and one great granddaughter, Wiley Shriner. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra (Emory) Stapleton of Greenville, SC, and a son, Steve Shriner of Fairhope. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Dauphin Way United Methodist Church in Mobile.
