Joseph Lamar Manley, 84, of Elberta, passed away on April 9, 2013. Born to Joe and Eva Manley, Joe loved life and loved people. He began a career in trucking during high school in World War II and built Joe's Truck Salvage in his later years. A member of the national guard, he served his country as part of the 31st Infantry Division of the US Army. He served two terms on the town council of Elberta and was dedicated to serving on and supporting the Volunteer Fire Department. He served faithfully on the board of directors of the Baldwin County Heritage Museum. Joe was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 62 years, Anna Marie Manley, parents Joe and Evangeline Manley, and sister Norma Jane. Joe will be remembered by daughter, Victoria (Jimmy) Southern, son, Chris (Anna) Manley, granddaughter, Madalyn Manley, step-grandchildren Angie Southern (John McGregor), and Jamie Southern, step-great grandchildren, Lilly and Riley McGregor, sister-in-law Shirley (Charles) Pattillo, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on April 13, 2013 from 2 to 3 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Elberta. Funeral services will follow at 3. Interment will follow the funeral at St. Mark's Lutheran Cemetery.
