JOHNSON FOLEY, AL Earl Robert Johnson, age 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 7, 2013 with his wife by his side. Earl was born on March 11, 1929 in Argos, Indiana, son of the late William and Gertrude (Gustafson) Johnson. He graduated from Mishawaka High School in Mishawaka, Indiana in 1947. On August 5, 1950, he was married to Normalee Kollar in Mishawaka. Earl proudly served in the United States Navy from 1948 until he was honorably discharged in 1952. He attended Coyne’s Electrical School of Chicago. Earl worked for WSBT television station in South Bend, Indiana from 1952 until 1968. He then worked for several electric companies until 1979 when he and Norma moved to Foley. He worked for Baroco Electric in Pensacola and Stiffler Engineering in Foley until he retired. Earl was very active in the Boy Scouts and served on the executive level. He was also an Eagle Scout and received the Silver Beaver Award. He was also affiliated with the Shriners, St. Joseph Valley Lodge #45 in South Bend, IN, the Scottish Rite and the American Legion #77 in Foley, AL. Earl volunteered at the South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, where he served as the president of the Auxiliary. In his free time, he loved to fish and work in his yard, planting trees, flowers, and plants throughout. Earl will be deeply missed by his entire family. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Beth Ann Hesler and Jan Rose; brothers, William, Jr. and James Johnson; a sister, Barbara Helgerson; brothers-in-law, Ellis Roberts and Kenneth Kollar; and a son-in-law, Jerry Hesler. Earl is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Norma; his daughter, Lynne (James) Korpal, South Bend; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Parker, Lindsey (Chris) Kimble, Haley Korpal, and Andrew Korpal, Lorie Hesler, Andrea (Terry) Kuespert, and Shaunda (Marcus) Snowden; eight great-grandchildren, Jake Smith, Alivia, John, and Christopher Jachimiak, Ethan and Emily Kuespert, Jerri Snowden, and Hannah Kimble; sisters-in-law, Carol Roberts, Lois Kollar, and Betty Nalepinski Johnson; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends . The funeral services will be held from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley, AL, Sunday, February 10, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Richard Brooks officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the service time. The family will have private interment services.
