STAPLETON, AL M. Coleman Morton, a native of Hampden, AL., and a longtime resident of Mobile, AL., now residing in Stapleton, AL., died Thursday, February 7, 2013 in a Fairhope hospital. Mr. Morton was a member of Eastern Shore Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army 41st Infantry and the 4th Armored Division. He retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1990 after 36 years of service. His love of the outdoors which he shared with his son, grandsons, and friends was second only to his love of football and baseball, especially when his son, or a grandchild were participating. A great joy to him was the special young men that grew up with his son and continued to visit throughout his life. Mr. Morton is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jimmie Ann Vaughn Morton, three children, Cindy (Mickey) Degnan of Fairhope, Dawn (Bill) McMurray of Silverhill and Joe (Leigh) Morton of Stapleton; five grandsons, Will McMurray, Bobby (Kelli) Degnan, Ben McMurray, Jim McMurray and Cole Morton; three granddaughters, Meredith McMurray, Brittney Degnan and Claire Morton; a sister Laura McGilberry of Arlington, AL., and nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. Graveside services were held Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Memory Gardens of Fairhope. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial donations be given to Alabama Baptist Childrens Home, St. Judes or the American Diabetes Association.
