Gary Dillard Hunter

DAPHNE, AL   Gary Dillard Hunter, age 88, native of Jacksonville , FL , and resident of Daphne, AL , passed away Friday, January 18, 2013. Mr. Hunter was a US Navy veteran and participated on a recent honor flight.  He was a former resident of Schenectady , NY ; Slidell , LA , Baton Rouge , LA , and Woodstock , GA.   Mr. Hunter worked as a photographer at the Times Union in Jacksonville , then went on to work with GE, Schnectady , NY , NASA in Slidell , LA , and retired from the Morning Advocate in Baton Rouge , LA.   He was a lifelong member of Barber Shop Harmony Society and was an active member of the Senior Center in Daphne where he met his wife.   Mr. Hunter is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hunter of Daphne, AL;  a daughter, Beverly (Michael) Koepp of Daphne, AL; a son, Charles A. (Marilyn) Hunter of Milton, FL;  three grandchildren, Jill Phillips of Mobile, AL,  Keith Koepp of Fairhope, AL, Veeka Hunter of Milton, FL, seven great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Irene Boller of Jacksonville, FL and numerous other loving relatives and friends.   He was preceded in death by his first wife of fifty years, Priscilla Hunter. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 10:30 am at the Chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Daphne, AL. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service.
