Manley Elberta Anna Marie Manley,80, a native of Elberta, passed away on December 12, 2012 at her home after a sudden illness. Born to Fred and Elsa Noltensmeier and raised in the farm home of her parents, Anna Marie learned the work of the home and fields under their loving guidance. She carried the love of these labors throughout her life as seen in her gardens, craftwork, homemaking and family. She loved to create and lived to share her blessings of food and craft. While a student at Foley High, she was active in 4-H and worked at Stacy’s Drugstore in Elberta. Anna Marie was a leader in both her church and in the professional community. She taught Sunday School, was active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and served in a variety of roles at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. In her thirties, she returned to school and completed studies at Southwest Technical College in 1968. Upon completion, she worked for Riveria Utilities rising to head cashier before retiring after 28 years of service. Retirement meant simply shifting to working more in volunteer service. In addition to church, she served the Baldwin County Heritage Museum where she received and cataloged the museums thousands of donations, and conceived and created displays . She expressed her love through her hospitality and her ever ready and sympathetic ear. Anna Marie was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Elsa Noltensmeier, and sister Lillian (Hollice) Presley. Anna Marie will be remembered by her devoted husband of 62 years, Joe Manley, daughter Victoria (Jimmy) Southern, son Chris (Anna) Manley, granddaughter, Madalyn Manley, step grandchildren Angie Southern (John McGregor), James Southern, step-great grandchildren, Lilly and Riley McGregor, sister Shirley (Charles) Pattillo and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 16, 2012 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Elberta. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm . Interment will follow the funeral at St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery.
