DAPHNE, AL Robert Patrick White, age 90, a native of St. Louis, MO and resident of Baldwin County passed away Thursday, November 22, 2012. In his own words “On July 15, 1922, a male child was born to Lilah McCormick White and the very Reverend Edward S. White (the ‘very Reverend’ said legitimately but with tongue in cheek) in St. Louis, MO. After a childhood spent in St. Louis and Chicago, Pat graduated from the Libertyville Township High School in Illinois. While attending University of the South at Sewanee, TN, Pearl Harbor was attacked, changing the plans of nearly everyone in the world, including Pat. To do his bit, Pat served 3½ years in the US Coast Guard on the Gulf Coast. While stationed in Mobile, Pat met the sweetest Southern girl, Rose Scott Coleman, who he came to see was an angel in his life. They were married February 9, 1945, and their 67 year marriage produced three wonderful children: Edward Sidney “Ted”, Rose Scott “Scotti”, and Lilah Martha. These three provided Pat and Rose eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, all of whom he dearly loved. Pat was extremely, even sinfully proud of his grandchildren; engineers, nurses, teachers, a doctor, a lawyer, a CPA, a small business owner and an Episcopal priest. It’s been a great trip, with a great family, in a great country, during a great century and a great historical period. Thanks be to God and hope for a life everlasting.” Pat and Rose White established White’s Imports in 1959, bringing MGs and Volvo’s to the Mobile area. Always engaged fully in life and in his faith, Pat was a member of the Mobile Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Mobile Men’s Chorus and served as an Episcopal lay-reader at Saint Andrew’s Mobile, Saint Alban’s Loxley and Saint James Fairhope. Pat was preceded in death by his son, Ted. He is survived by his wife, Rose; his daughters, Lilah (Tom) Sanders and Scotti (Jerry) Dixon; daughter-in-law, Janet Penry and his eight grandchildren, Matthew (Tandy) White, Patrick (Ashley) White, David (Paige) Dixon, Rob (Amanda) Dixon, Larin (Renee) Dees, Meg (Sean) Clark, Natalie (Steve) Dukes and Hallie Dixon and twenty great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 2:00 pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Daphne. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 28788 N.
