SPANISH FORT, AL Betty Hale Farris Watts, 80, of New Albany, MS, and Spanish Fort, AL, passed away in Corpus Christi, TX on Sept. 23, 2012 surrounded by family. She will be remembered for her smile, laughter and generous spirit.She was born in New Albany, MS on June 3, 1932 to the late Lacy Lamar Hale and Duff Anderson Bramlett Hale. She is preceded in death by her brother Dwayne Hale and sister, Margie Hale Gilliam. She married the late Rodney Moore Farris of Corinth, MS. They were married for 35 years before his death on April 18, 1989. She is survived by a son, Scott Farris of Foley, AL; a daughter, Leigh Anne Farris Gibbon (Bill) of Corpus Christi, TX, and 4 grandchildren: Lydia, Mary Grace, Stephanie and Reagan Gibbon of Corpus Christi, TX; sisters-in-law Linda Farris Webster (Fate) of Hartselle, AL, and Sandra Farris Curtis (Curt) of Memphis; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. She married Austin Lee Watts of Spanish Fort, AL. He preceded her in death in October of 2006 and is survived by his children Lee Watts of Tennessee, Linda Thornhill of Daphne, Cheryl Turner (Bill) of Atlanta, and 5 grandchildren: Beth Anne Arcement, Avery Lee Thornhill, Trey Thornhill, Austin Watts, and Wes Turner.Betty loved art, teaching school, and leading her Sunday school class, which she did for more than 40 years. She was a long-time member of Old Spanish Fort Baptist Church and Jubilee Baptist Church in Daphne, AL. Betty volunteered her time and talents at Baldwin Youth Services, and Save-a-life as well. She loved to travel, study the Bible and spend time with her family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012, at 2:00 pm at the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Daphne.The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.Graveside services will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
