SPANISH FORT Dera Jones Williams passed away Thursday, July 5, 2012 after a lengthy illness. A native of Sand Mountain , Alabama , she moved to the Mobile area at age 17 where she met and married her love, LaVaine Williams. They celebrated 67 years of marriage on May 24, 2012. She is survived by her husband, LaVaine, two daughters: Linda (Monty) Murray and Cindy (Doug) Roberts both of Spanish Fort’ one son:. LaVaine C. Williams, Jr. (Butch) of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, Andrea Galmiche, Candace Broughton, Justin Sanders, Kristen MacQueen and Kendall Bradley; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Emmett (Erma) Jones of Houma, LA. and preceded in death by seven siblings. “Miss Dera” was well known throughout Baldwin and Mobile Counties as an accomplished pianist. For years she played for several churches, countless weddings and was staff musician for Bayview Funeral Home. She loved the Lord, and was a smiling, sweet testimony until the very end. The family wants to thank her many friends who prayed for and visited her during her illness. Also a special thanks to her caregivers at Mercy Medical and the faithful hospice visitors. Funeral services will be held Monday July 9, 2012 at 5:30 PM from the Chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Daphne. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 9, 2012 from 4:00PM until time of service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in her honor to the Mission of Hope in Mobile, AL.
