FAIRHOPE, AL Mack Lemuel Williams, Jr. passed away at home on June 24, 2012. He lived in Fairhope since 1986. He was born November 16, 1927 in Waycross, GA to Gladys Smith Williams and Mack L. Williams. Mack graduated from Waycross High School, where he was a standout football player. He was a WWII Navy veteran. Mack was a “Ramblin’ Wreck from Georgia Tech and a helluva engineer”, as he graduated from Georgia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He spent the majority of his professional career in the paper industry. Mack and his wife are members of the Fairhope United Methodist Church. He and his family are grateful for the love and support provided to them by FUMC Caring Ministries. He was an avid sailor and a member of Fairhope Yacht club for 25 years. Mack is survived by his wife Beverly Henderson Williams, his high school sweetheart, who became his lifelong partner for 63 years. Just weeks before his death he told her that she was still the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, and he loved her more that day than the day they married. His daughters, Patricia Williams and Eslie McAllester, Fairhope, AL, granddaughter, Jenifer Whitesell, Arlington, VA (Jason), great granddaughters, Lila Kate and Reagan Nicole Whitesell, Arlington, VA, sisters, Jane McQuaig, Waycross, GA (Charles), Ann Godwin, Gainesville, FL, brothers, Bob Williams, St. Augustine, FL (Pat), Bennie Williams, Savannah, GA (Sue), Frank Williams, Rancho Cucamonga, CA (Debra), John Williams, Ocala, FL (Marty), many loving nieces and nephews and dear friends. In addition to his parents Mack was preceded in death by his brother Richard Williams. Mack’s life will be celebrated during a service at the Miles-Odom Funeral Home Chapel in Waycross, GA on June 30 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive visitors on June 29 from 6 – 7 PM also at Miles-Odum. Arrangements for a memorial service to be held in Fairhope are pending.
