CORLEY FOLEY, AL Linda “Lyn” Keener Corley, age 72, a native of Austin, MO and resident of Foley, AL passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012. Mrs. Corley was very active through the years and loved walking, dancing, teaching all ages of Sunday school, including her peer group, and serving as a Red Cross volunteer in several capacities. She was the president of UMW and was a lay speaker for several years, and also served as a foster parent. She was a public notary and married many couples. As a young Air Force wife, she moved frequently before being widowed and was married to Kelly O. Corley two years later. She also welcomed into her home many foreign exchange students from all over the world. When her children were grown, her favorite long term personal travel adventure was to Australia where she lived for six months, and made a lifetime friend, departing from and returning to the States via freighter ships. She was the owner and manager of Kawasaki Franchise and her own Craft Shop in the Pensacola area. Mrs. Corley was an avid bowler and loved the league of life, and was a fervent fan of the Saints and Alabama football teams. She loved to read biographies and autobiographies and was a lifelong learner, paying attention to current events and how those related to peoples’ lives. She was preceded in death by her Air Force husband, Robert Lee Keener who died at 28 and a daughter, Christina Ann Keener who died at the age of 44. Mrs. Corley is survived by her daughter, Marcia Keener of Fredericksburg, VA; two sons, Kevin Keener of Molino, FL, and Kelly O. Corley, Jr. of Foley, AL; brother, Fred Ashby of Clinton, MO; two grandsons, Kendrick and Robert Cary of VA; three granddaughters, Teresa Keener, Faren and Reagan Corley; and great grandsons, Devlyn Bullard and Justin Matthew Floyd; and other family members and friends. Her grandchildren all referred to her as Grand-ma-naw. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 3:00 pm at the Chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Foley. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at a later date alongside her first husband in Rich Hill, MO. Mrs. Corley volunteered at Ecumenical Ministries for many years and was exposed to the wide variety of financial need experienced by those in the community, which affected her deeply. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Ecumenical Ministries, 102 Spruce Avenue, Foley, AL 36535; Covenant Hospice of Daphne, 1040 Stanton Road, Suite D, Daphne, AL 36526 or to any other charity of choice.
