John Walter Roll

ROLLFOLEY, AL John Walter Roll, age 84, native of Chicago, IL and resident of Foley passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012. Mr. Roll was a Sargeant First Class US Army (Ret).  He served in the Korean Conflict and two tours of duty in Vietnam,.  He also served as a Green Beret.  Mr. Roll was a past Post Commander of the VFW, Post 5658, Elberta and a life member of the American Legion, Gulf Shores. He is survived by his wife, Mireille Roll of Foley;  two daughters, Patricia (Bruce) Walstad of Foley,  Anne (Steve) Odom of Orange Beach;  three grandchildren, John Walstad, Omar Walstad, Alex Odom;  six great grandchildren, Anthony, Emily, Lauren, Alexis, Christopher and John and a host of other loving relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, April 30, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Foley. Interment will be held Monday, May 7, 2012 at 10:15 am at Barrancas National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Association of your choice.
