Ronald E. Allen

SPANISH FORT   Ronald E. Allen, age 85, a native of Hardtner , KS and a resident of Spanish Fort, passed away Monday, April 16, 2012 at a local hospital.   Mr. Allen was a US Navy veteran of WW II.  He was active in Friends of the Library in every city he resided.  Mr. Allen served as Executive Director of a variety of  community service organizations, including the United Way of Mobile ,  Community Chest and Senior Citizen Services. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Helen Allen.   He is survived by a son, Ron (Julie) Allen of San Gabriel, CA;  daughters, Debbie (Avery) Walters of Jacksonville, FL,  Marilyn (Michael) McKeller of Charlotte, NC,  Barbara “Taffy” Stephens and Claudia (Tom) Jones, both of Wales,  Nancy (Pelham) Anderson of Daphne, AL, Wendy Shadburn of Pittsboro, NC; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.   A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Westminster Village .  The family will receive friends following the service.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Daphne Public Library.
