Dorothy ALonzo Word

SPANISH FORT, AL Dorothy Alonzo Word, age 99, passed away Friday, March 23, 2012 at Westminster Village in Spanish Fort, AL.  Dorothy was a native of Mobile , born there 10 January, 1913.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas R. and Dora (Sykes) Alonzo;  husband, William B. Word; her son, Robert B. Word;  step-sons, Charles E. Word and William B. Word; granddaughter, Deborah Lynn Neibling;  sisters, Gladys (Gus) Langmaid and Marjorie (William) Harrison; and her brother, Reynolds T. (Myrtle) Alonzo. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Dianne Word (Robert) Neibling; daughter-in-law, Joy Word; granddaughters, Leslie Word (Beazer) McMichael, Suzanne Word (Spencer) Davis, and Amanda Word (Dylan) McCain; step-grandchildren, Charles Dana (Barbara) Word, Byron Dennis (Marlene) Word, and Darlene Word (Jim) Solvason; great-grandchildren; and great-great- grandchildren.  Special appreciation is extended to nieces: Nancy Langmaid, Shannon (Steve) Chamberlin, Ann (Alfred) Cowley, and Maureen (Connell) Allen and nephew: William H. Harrison III (Jeri) for their help and support.  The family is grateful to the residents and staff at Westminster , Bay Ridge, and also to Covenant Hospice for the care and assistance they provided.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Christ The King Catholic Church at 1505 Main Street in Daphne, Alabama at 11:00 AM on March 27, 2012.  The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to Mass.  Interment will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley.
