Elvin Van Bemis

BEMISGULF SHORES Elvin Van Bemis, age 71 resident of Gulf Shores passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Pensacola. Mr. Bemis was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Bon Secour and a retired commercial fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Eleanor Bemis; two brothers, Vernon and Leroy Bemis. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Bemis of Gulf Shores;  a daughter and son-in-law, Lavana and Eric Grantham of Huntsville; two sisters, Carolyn Allen and Nelda Bemis, both of Bon Secour; a brother, Lonnie Bemis of Louisiana and one grandson, Gavin Grantham of Huntsville. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 19, 2012 at 3:00 pm at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.  Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
