Marie "Jinx" Bachtell

FAIRHOPE , AL   Marie “Jinx” Bachtell, age 90, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012, at Thomas Hospital .     Born in Mechanicville , NY , Marie had lived the past 36 years in Fairhope. First a teacher, she spent WW II as a Marine Flight Crew Chief.   After marrying her husband, the late Norris “Bake” D. Bachtell, Marie traveled the world accompanying him on his job.   When Bake retired, they continued their travels in an RV making friends across the US .   Marie was close to her friends in Fairhope and they were of great help to her after Bake’s death.   She belonged to the UU Fellowship of Fairhope and greatly valued the friends she made there.   She is survived by her stepson, Larry ( Virginia “Pixie”) Bachtell, granddaughter, Jenny, sisters, Thelma Urbaetis, Irma Cornell (Bernie) Kudlacik, Lynne (Patrick) DeMarco, brothers, James Butler, Preston (Helen) Butler , David Butler, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.   A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 12, 2012, at 4:00 pm, at Fairhope Unitarian Fellowship , 1150 Fairhope Avenue , Fairhope , AL 36532 . In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Fairhope Unitarian Fellowship.
