FAIRHOPE Myrtis Marie Farmer Thomas, age 97, a resident of Fairhope since 1949, left her earthly home to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, February 27, 2012. She was born in Baskin, LA and married William Lloyd Thomas on January 10, 1933 in Scott County, MS. He preceded her in death as did her parents, sister and brother. Mrs. Thomas was a well known retail saleswoman in Fairhope for many years. Before her retirement, she worked at Brumfields, Bedsole's and The Colony Shop. Many local shoppers went out of their way to have her help with their shopping selections because of her friendly helpful personality. As a result, she won the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce Award for being Fairhope's most courteous salesperson in 1957 the year the award was given. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Fairhope and participated in many church activities. She loved and enjoyed her large family. Her oldest son, William Harold Thomas, died in 2002. She is survived by her five children, Rebecca Thomas Sebring of Fairhope, Perry F. (Betty) Thomas, all of Fairhope, Dr. James Lloyd (Diane) Thomas of Montrose, Dr. Joseph Paul (Sandra) Thomas of Mobile, Rachel Thomas (Bart) Reves of Vancleave, MS. Additionally keeping her memory alive are seventeen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the First Baptist Church of Fairhope, Saturday, March 3, 2012, at 10:00am. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:00am until the service time.
