POINT CLEAR David Henderson Head, Sr., age 74, a native of Troy, Alabama, a former resident of Atlanta, GA and Montgomery, AL, and a current resident of Point Clear since1979. Mr. Head attended The University of Alabama, where he received both his B.S. (1959) and J.D. (1962) degrees. Prior to entering the field of real estate development, Mr. Head worked for the Real Estate Investment Department (City Mortgage) of Equitable Life Assurance Society in Atlanta . He was one of the original developers of Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach , FL. He later focused on shopping centers, office buildings and apartments in Alabama , Georgia , Florida , Mississippi , North Carolina and Tennessee . Commencing in 1989, Mr. Head began developing residential resort oriented properties along the Northern Gulf Coast . Helping to shape the growth pattern along the Gulf Coast , some of these include Marcus Pointe in Pensacola , Rock Creek in Fairhope, The Peninsula and The Beach Club on Fort Morgan , Indigo in Perdido Key, The Yacht Club in Orange Beach and Wild Heron in Panama City . Very much enjoying the creative side of development, Mr. Head was a visionary recognizing the potential of the region. Mr. Head’s most treasured assets were his family and friends. He shared a special bond with his four grandchildren and numerous great nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed giving back to the community and various charities. Mr. Head’s positive influences in his personal life and professional career have been a blessing for many individuals whose lives he touched. Mr. Head was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Townsend Head of Troy and his loving sister, Camille Head Corte of Fairhope. He leaves behind his children, Ansley Head Ahrendt, David Henderson Head, Jr. (Elizabeth), Gjuro Bruer and Niko Bruer, his four grandchildren David Head Henderson, III, Josephine Goodwyn Head, Julia Dare Ahrendt and Anna Camille Ahrendt, all of Fairhope. Mr. Head also is survived by his sisters Baba Head Hendricks (Ken), Diane Head Powell (Dudley) and seven nieces and nephews, Tripp Howard (Lee Lynn), Kim Campbell (Chip), Alyson Jackson (Sid), Kent Hendricks (Erin), Chase Corte (Wynter), Cameron Corte and Dudley Powell (Denise). The family would like to thank especially Margaret Sylvest of Montgomery , Alabama , an old friend and true angel who so lovingly cared for him in his illness. Additionally, special gratitude goes to Joyce Challenger, Kevin McCants and Lionel Bracy for their continuous care and support. A service for family and friends will be held at the Head home in Point Clear on Sunday, February 5 th at 4:00pm.
