Bill Whelpley

FOLEY, AL Bill Whelpley, age 81, a native of Millwood, GA and a resident of Foley, AL, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012. Bill was a U.S. Air Force veteran and member of First Baptist Church of Foley. Bill never met a stranger.  He overcame many obstacles throughout his life to build many successful businesses, travel the world and share his love for life and others.    Mr. Whelpley is preceded in death by his son, Dennis Lincoln. He is survived by his wife, Mabel Benton Whelpley, four daughters, Pamela Matthews of Aurora, CO, Alisha Jennings of Fort Myers, FL, Nadine Mancuso of Boston, MA, and Stephanie Robson of Washington, DC, four sons, Raymond Lincoln of Ft. Worth, TX, Bill Whelpley of Dallas, TX, Scott Whelpley of Mukilteo, WA and Michael Whelpley of California, eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, four stepchildren and numerous loving step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley, AL, Monday, January 23, 2012 at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Foley Building Fund or the First Baptist Church of Foley Family Crisis Center.
