Ricky L. Newtson

Peoria, IL Ricky L. Newtson, 55, of Peoria, passed away on December 25 in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Rick was born in Peoria to Roy and Dorothy (Snyder) Newtson. They preceeded him in death, along with brother Ronnie. He is survived by wife Gail of Peoria, son D.J. Merrick of Peoria, daughters Alysha Wood of Bellevue and Tiffany Newtson of St. Louis, sister Glenna (James) Rathbun of Bartonville, brother Bob Newtson of Peoria, and 3 grandchildren. Rick was a long time member of Laborers International Local 165, which he retired from in 2009. He worked part-time with Fondulac Park District in East Peoria during 2011. Rick was also an IHSA referee, ASA umpire, and softball coach. He played baseball locally and later traveled across the country with Jack and the Jesters, a trick baseball team. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 5, 2011 from 4:30-5pm at Bartonville Christian Church 4900 Pfeiffer Rd. A celebration of life will follow at Hammer's Restaurant in Bartonville.
