BELFOREST Roy James Simms, Sr., age 90, a native of Fairhope and a life long resident of Belforest, passed away Friday, November 18, 2011. Mr. Simms was the owner and operator of R. J. Simms Hardware. He was a life long member of Christ the King Catholic Church. He was also a member of Woodmen of the World. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alice Lazzari Simms, of Belforest; children, who he loved dearly, Roy James Simms, Jr., M. D. and his wife Barbara, of Yakima, WA, Marie Stringfellow and her husband Greg, of Mobile, Martha Allegri and her husband Vince, of Fairhope, Edward Alexander Simms, of Spanish Fort, Jackie Puckett and her husband Patrick, of Daphne; Grandchildren, whom he was eternally proud of, Kristin & Billy Byrnes, Benjamin Simms, Greg & Ashley Stringfellow, Kim & Bart Landry, Jennifer & Stephen Stokes, Chesley & Michael Gamotis, Devan Allegri, Andrew Simms, Katie Simms, Alex Simms, Jessica Puckett; Great grandchildren, that were dear to him, Sarah and Lilly Stringfellow, Kelsi & Lindsey Landry, Simms, Ethan, Lydia & Molly Stokes; sister, Mildred Simms Foster, brother, Edward N. Simms, both of Belforest; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Christ the King Catholic Church, Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends, at the church, from 9:30 am until service time. Interment will follow in Belforest Catholic Cemetery.
