FAIRHOPE , AL   Mada Louise Edmonds made her final journey at Robertsdale Health Care Center on October 27, 2011 after living 86 wonderful years. She was born in Milan, TN on March 14, 1925 to James Marcus and Cassie May Richardson. Mada graduated from high school in Tupelo, MS and after moving to Memphis, TN and pursuing various careers she married William E. Luoma (deceased) and had five children. Eventually getting divorced, she was remarried to Henry Benjamin Edmonds in Jackson, MS and moved to Fairhope AL. Around the age of 40, she went to college and received her degree in education and taught American History at Fairhope High School for 15 years. She continued her studies and obtained a Masters degree in Education from the University of South Alabama in Mobile. During her years as an educator, she received many awards including the Phi Theta Kappa Fraternity and being named in “Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges.” In 1983, she was awarded a Fulbright scholarship and spent two summers in India studying its history and culture. In 1984, she studied at Cornell University through the National Endowment for Humanities. She also served 12 years as an instructor with the Presidential Classroom for Young Americans Program in Washington, DC. After retiring from teaching, Mada pursued her love of history by becoming a tour guide and travel escort and explored the world including Egypt, China, Australia and several trips to her beloved Russia. In her later years, she resided in Annapolis, MD and was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church where her son-in-law is the rector, The Rt. Rev. Robert Loiselle, Sr., and who will preside at her service. She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Edmonds and her daughter Jan Randel of Fairhope, AL. Her surviving children are Lynn Hedl of Birmingham, AL; Emily Loiselle of Annapolis, MD; CAPT William M. Luoma, USN (Ret.) of Annapolis, MD and Christopher Neil Luoma of Fairhope, AL. In addition, Mada had nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 1 st at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope, AL from 5:00-7:00pm. Her funeral service will be at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at St. Francis at the Point Anglican Church in Point Clear, AL, followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. Her interment will be at 2:30 pm at Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley, AL. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Covenant Hospice, 1040 Stanton Road, Ste.
