Louise Coffey

FOLEY, AL Louise J. Coffey, age 86, a resident of Foley, AL, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Robertsdale Health Care Center. The youngest of six children, Louise was born in Bluefield, VA. She spent her formative years in Roanoke, VA until she married in 1943. She and Richard moved to Foley; he was stationed at Barren Field and she worked at Stacey’s Drug Store. In the early 50’s they moved to Miami, FL and raised their family. While in Miami, Louise was in retail with Burdines Department Store and worked as a teller with Peoples American Bank. They retired to Pensacola and finally moved back to Foley in 1999. She was a member of St. Andrews by the Sea.   She is preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 61 years, Richard Coffey. She will be forever remembered by daughter, Bonnie and her husband Dr. Paul Abbott of Foley; beloved grandchildren, Rick Gehr and his wife Misty Bemis Gehr of Foley and Joy Gehr Myers and her husband Matthew Myers of Birmingham; treasured great grandchildren, McKenna and Connor Gehr and James Myers; her sister Connie London and family; special friends Jim and Marilyn Nelson along with countless nieces, nephews and friends who were blessed to know her. The family would like to express their appreciation and sincere thanks to Angie Burt, our guardian angel and special friend; the staff of Community Hospice of Baldwin County, especially Robin Wilson; the staff of Liveoak Village ALF; her private sitters Ethel, Alica, Guyla, and the compassionate caregivers at Robertsdale Health Care.    Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley, AL, Saturday, October 15, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. There will be a visitation an hour prior to the service. The service will be given by Reverend George Myers with special music by Marilyn Nelson. Private interment will be held in Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, FL.
