Dorothy Webb Metzger

FAIRHOPE, AL Dorothy Webb Metzger, age 86, a native of St. Austell, Cornwell, England and a resident of Fairhope, AL, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011. Mrs. Metzger was born June 3, 1925 in St. Austell, Cornwell, England. She is the daughter of the late Henry William Webb and his wife Minnie Palmer Webb. Dorothy was a British War Bride who met her future husband, William Joseph Metzger Sr. when he was stationed in Cornwell, England prior to the D Day invasion. She arrived in the USA aboard the S.S. Argentina in May of 1946. She is preceded in death by her husband William Joseph Metzger Sr. She is survived by her seven children, Michael (Mary Kathryn) Metzger, William Joseph (Ethel) Metzger Jr., Sheila Fox, Angela (Richard) Foxworth, Charles (Jennifer) Metzger, George Metzger, and Barbara (John) Sheldon. Eleven grandchildren Sharon Hood, Billy Metzger, Mark Metzger, Richie Foxworth, Jennifer Boyer, Nicholas Metzger, Addison Stokes, Griffin Metzger, Wyndham Metzger, Stella Sheldon, Nash Sheldon and one great granddaughter, Jessica Hood. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Fairhope, AL. The family will receive friends an hour prior to Mass. The family would like to express their appreciation to the administrators and staff of Carroll Place and Dr. Bill Bingham for all of the love and dedication they put into their jobs everyday.
