Richard David Weirich

GULF SHORES, ALRichard D. Weirich “Dick”, age 79, of Gulf Shores, AL, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, September 9, 2011.Dick retired from Management Associates, Dick’s love of life, kindness to others and wonderful tenor voice will be missed. Coming from a musical family, Dick began singing with a Barbershop Quartet in high school. He continued singing throughout his life in church choirs and Barbershop choruses and quartets, most recently with the Four Winds Chorus in Gulf Shores. As an avid boater and fisherman, Dick loved to fish for salmon and perch in Lake Michigan and the treasures of the sea in the Gulf of Mexico. One of his greatest joys was to take others out on his boat to give them opportunities to catch fish. He liked to play cribbage and was the expert instructor to his children and grandchildren. Dick leaves behind to cherish his memory, the love of his life, wife Joann of 60 years and children, Gregory (Debbie) Weirich, Pamela Downour, Geoffrey (Dina) Weirich, six grandchildren, one great grandson, and his sisters, Margaret (Jim) Freeman and Ethel Andaloro.  A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Gulf Shores, AL, on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. Since many of his friends are snowbirds, a celebration of his life will be held at the Gulf Shores Activity Center on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. The family would like to thank the nurses from Covenant Hospice and the caregivers from Heavenly Sent.
