Louise Sproles Shumate

FAIRHOPE, AL Louise Sproles Shumate, age 100, a native of Greenwood, MS and a longtime resident of Fairhope, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011. Mrs. Shumate was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Fairhope. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Shumate, daughter Mary Lou Greenwood, granddaughter, Jo Howell, one sister and four brothers. She is survived by her daughters, Jean Vafiades of Sugarland, TX, Judy Grove and her husband Ron of Biloxi, MS, grandchildren, Nick Vafiades and his wife Lori of Colorado Springs, CO, Dino Vafiades and his wife Terri of Nashville, TN, Donna Cutrona and her husband Bob of Sugarland, TX, Debbie Greenwood of Mobile, Richard Greenwood and his wife Sue of Los Angeles, CA, Douglas Greenwood and his wife Laurie of Mobile, Wendy Jackson of New Orleans, LA, David Jackson of Spanish Fort, Kelly Wood of Biloxi, MS, fifteen great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the First Baptist Church of Fairhope, Saturday, August 27, 2011, at 11:00am. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00am until the service time. Graveside services and interment will be held in Pine Crest Cemetery, Mobile, Saturday, August 27, 2011, at 2:00pm.
