Leah Smith Koppersmith

FAIRHOPE , AL Leah Smith Koppersmith, age 85, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2011 in Fairhope. Mrs. Koppersmith was born March 5, 1926 in Frisco City , AL and was a longtime resident of Fairhope. She received her RN from City Hospital of Mobile through the US Cadet Nurse Corps.  Mrs. Koppersmith was an active member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.  She was also a volunteer at Thomas Hospital and Mercy Medical; was a Girl Scout Leader, and a member of the Baldwin Homemakers and the Scrappy Quilters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur J. Koppersmith, Jr. and her parents, Herbert and Ethel Smith. Mrs. Koppersmith is survived by her children, Daniel Koppersmith of Vancouver, BC,  Dennis (Lori) Koppersmith of Fairhope,  Leah (Lane) Rider of Flower Mound, TX,  Ellen (Mike) Madden of Mobile;  Grandchildren, Randy Russell and Nathaniel Koppersmith, Carl and Paige Madden;  sisters, Mary Keith of Irvington, Wanda (Jim) O’Donnell of Lilburn, GA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. Lawrence Catholic Church.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are to be made to Ecumenical Ministries of Baldwin County .
