Kellis Wayman Winters

FAIRHOPE, AL   Kellis Wayman Winters, age 81, a native and longtime resident of Nashville, TN, and a current resident of Fairhope, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011.   Kellis was a graduate of Hillsboro High School, Class of 1947.  He obtained a B. S. Degree from David Lipscomb College in 1952. Mr. Winters was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from the U. S Navy Reserve with rank of commander.  He was one of the original employees in formation of Athens Paper Co., a former General Manager for Nationwide Paper Company, and retired from Champion International Corp. in 1990.   Mr. Winters was preceded in death by his son, Richard Winters.   He is survived by his wife, Karin J. Winters of Fairhope, sons, Scott Winters and his wife Catherine of Summertown, TN, Greg Winters of Chattanooga, TN, Stephen Winters and his wife Rebecca of Butler, AL, sister, Carol Winters of Columbia, TN, eight grandchildren, Josh Winters, Jennifer Winters, Brian Harkreader, Ben Winters, Molly Winters, Kathleen Winters, Taylor Winters, Emma Winters, three great grandchildren, Rowan Winters, Chase Harkreader, Gage Harkreader, many other relatives and friends.   The family will have private services.   In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America, PVA: Donation Processing Center, P.
