Herbert John Zackrison

FOLEY, AL Herbert John Zackrison, “Zack”, age 82, was a devoted and caring man beloved by his family and friends. After struggling with lung disease, Herbert Zackrison died peacefully on June 6, 2011. Herbert Zackrison was born on March 22, 1929, in Seattle, Washington. He was a graduate of Bothell High School. He graduated from Washington State University receiving a Bachelor in Science in Agricultural Engineering. He was a Korean War veteran that served in the Air Force. After spending most of his career working as a Professional Engineer with the United States Army Corps of Engineers, he retired in 1997 and moved to Foley, Alabama. He was a devoted Christian and attended Saint Mark's Lutheran Church in Elberta, Alabama. He cherished the love and comfort provided by his Christian friends & family. He was the son of the late Arthur and Edith Zackrison and the brother of the late Ronald Zackrison. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Irene Zackrison. He is survived by his wife, Bobbye Kurtts Zackrison of Foley, Alabama. He is survived by his daughters and their spouses and families: Cheryl Chapman and her husband, Barry, of Germantown, Tennessee, Cynthia Pritchett and her husband, Chuck, of Mobile, Alabama, and Susan Brown and her husband, Dusty, of Mobile, Alabama. He also is survived by his grandchildren, Suzanne, James, and Jonathan Chapman of Germantown, Tennessee, and Christine Pritchett of Mobile, Alabama. He is also survived by four stepsons and their spouses: Jimmy Kurtts and his wife, Nancy, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, Bob Kurtts of Montgomery, Alabama, Randy Kurtts of Elberta, Alabama, and Dr. Terry Kurtts and his wife, Diana, of Elberta, Alabama. His is also survived by his stepsons’ families and their children’s families. The family will receive friends at Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church, Elberta, AL. June 9, 2011, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Funeral services will be held from Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church, Elberta, AL. June 9, 2011 at 3:00 PM. Interment will follow in Saint Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery, Elberta, AL.
